Gong, Jianya

Gong Jianya (1957-), male, photogrammetry and remote sensing scientist. In 2011, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor in the School of Remote Sensing Information Engineering and the State Key Laboratory of Surveying and Mapping Remote Sensing Information Engineering, Wuhan University. Winner of National Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Chief Scientist of 973 Project, Academic Leader of Innovation Group of National Natural Science Foundation of China, Leading Talent of Science and Technology of National Bureau of Surveying and Mapping, Convener of Surveying and Mapping Subject Group of the Sixth and Seventh Discipline Evaluation Group of the State Council Chairman of the Sixth Committee of the Remote Sensing Society, President of the China Overseas Geographic Information Science Society, Secretary-General of the Asian Geographic Information System Association, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Surveying and Mapping, and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science. Has undertaken more than 40 national and provincial scientific research projects. Won 1 National Science and Technology Progress Innovation Team Award, 1 National Science and Technology Progress First Prize, 4 Second Prizes, 3 Provincial and Ministerial Grand Prizes, 7 First Prizes, International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) Dolezal Achievement 1 prize. He has published 13 monographs and textbooks, and published more than 500 papers, including more than 100 SCI papers, with more than 20,000 citations. Instructed more than 120 master students and more than 70 doctoral students.
